Shire Red – 823C

Shire Red is a high‑quality heritage sandstone celebrated for its long‑standing use in traditional British buildings. Warm and inviting, it brings together a refined mix of red, pink and brown hues, creating a palette that feels both striking and comfortingly familiar. This natural harmony of tones gives the stone a traditionally homely character with an understated elegance. Durable and dependable, it offers excellent long‑term performance across restoration projects and contemporary schemes seeking warmth, texture and authenticity. Subtle variations in grain and colour ensure that no two pieces are identical, lending every installation depth, richness and a sense of lived‑in charm. Mortar choice plays a defining role in the final aesthetic. Red‑tinted mortars, traditionally the most common pairing, create a cohesive, colour‑matched finish that echoes historic masonry practice. Buff or warm‑grey mortars offer a softer, blended appearance, while mid‑grey or charcoal mortars introduce contrast and sharpen the outlines for a more defined architectural look. Suitable for interior or exterior use. Coursed Stone Cladding Slips are cut from full-faced pieces of traditional coursed walling stone to a thickness of 15-30mm. Coursed cladding slips are formed into rectangular shaped stones sawn top and bottom in an architectural building style, typically with three set heights (ours are 65mm, 140mm and 215mm). L-shaped corners available.
